Australia women struck early
Australia women captain Sophie Molineux won the toss and elected to bowl first under overcast Lord’s skies. Her decision was proved to be correct as Australia bowlers left the home crowd stunned. They struck immediately during the Powerplay. Amy Jones and Danni Wyatt-Hodge fell early trying to break the shackles, followed by Alice Capsey (23) soon. England women were reduced to a 67/3 within the ten overs.

Captain’s knock saves England women
The captain then walked in and remained unbeaten guiding England women with a captain’s knock. The veteran all-rounder anchored the innings and partnered with Freya Kemp to recover the England innings. They rebuild the innings before shifting gears and concentrated on strike rotation. Nat Sciver-Brunt finished unbeaten on 58 off 53 deliveries while Kemp scored an unbeaten 44 off 28.
Kemp provided a late-innings fire as the pair targeted the slog. They added 42 runs off the final four overs and took the England score to 150/4. Australia’s bowling unit remained disciplined. But a few dropped chances in the deep during the final overs allowed England women to cross the150-run threshold.
