Japan announces squad for historic T20I against India
Japan has announced its team for the historic T20 match against India, which will take place before the 2026 Asian Games. Kendell Kadowaki Fleming will captain the team. This match will be played on September 22nd. Team India will then participate in the Asian Games. This match is being held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Japan.

Fatima Sana fined on Shafali Verma sendoff issue
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana faced a penalty for a gesture made after dismissing Shafali Verma during the Women’s Asia Cup match against India. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined her 10 percent of her match fee and handed her one demerit point. Fatima was found guilty of breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to the use of language, actions, or gestures following a batter’s dismissal that could be demeaning or provoke an aggressive reaction.
The incident occurred during India’s innings. Shafali Verma had started the innings aggressively but handed an easy return catch to Fatima Sana. This marked Fatima’s first wicket of the match, claimed on her sixth delivery. After completing the catch, Fatima gestured towards the pavilion, indicating to Shafali that she should leave the field. The ICC took action based on this behavior. Fatima admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Supriya Das; consequently, no formal hearing was required.
South Africa announces squad for ODI series against Australia
South Africa has announced its squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia. Captain Temba Bavuma has returned to the team, as has fast bowler Gerald Coetzee. Neither has played an ODI since the 2023 World Cup hosted by India. The South African team will play this series on home soil.
It is worth noting that South Africa is set to host the World Cup next year, and they will kickstart their preparations with this series. The Proteas have a golden opportunity to win the World Cup for the first time, which is why they have decided to field a full-strength squad. The team recently competed in a tri-series in Namibia, where they won the final; however, that tournament featured their ‘B’ team. South Africa’s ODI and Test captain, Temba Bavuma, is making a comeback after a long hiatus. He has not played any international matches so far this year; this series against Australia will mark his return. Bavuma last played an international match—an ODI against Ireland—in December 2025. He will now be playing his first match of the year.

“Pakistan’s squad will change after the England tour”: Shoaib Akhtar
Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar isn’t surprised by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s actions. The PCB recalled seven players before the third Test against England, making them a laughingstock in the cricketing world. Now, Akhtar believes Pakistan is preparing to take even more drastic action. The “Rawalpindi Express” believes the PCB doesn’t like these players.
Shoaib Akhtar, speaking on the Outside Edge show, discussed Pakistan’s problems. He said, “The PCB is very disappointed with the current players. They have no hope for this team. There is a plan to eliminate this team and select a younger team. Players who want to play for Pakistan are looking to the future and working in the right direction.”
