IPL 2026: Priyansh Arya only behind KL Rahul in this 50 runs record for Punjab Kings

In the 17th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026), Punjab Kings (PBKS) registered their third victory by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 6 wickets. In the match played at Mullanpur, SRH batted first and posted a score of 219/6, featuring a half-century (74) by Abhishek Sharma. In reply, PBKS successfully chased down the target, aided by an innings from Shreyas Iyer (69*). Let’s take a look at the records set during the match.

Abhishek’s 50 runs record

Abhishek now tops the list of players who have scored the most IPL half-centuries in fewer than 20 balls. He is followed by Nicholas Pooran, who has four such half-centuries to his name. Jake Fraser-McGurk, Travis Head, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi have each scored three half-centuries in under 20 balls in the IPL. Abhishek scored his second such half-century against PBKS.

Third-Highest Powerplay Score by Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad recorded the third-highest Powerplay score (105/0). The top two scores on this list also belong to SRH. While they posted a score of 125/0 against DC in 2024, the 2016 champion team scored 107/0 after six overs against LSG earlier this season. Apart from SRH, KKR and CSK are the only other teams in the IPL to have scored over 100 runs in the Powerplay.

Second-Fastest Half-Century for Punjab by Priyansh Arya

Priyansh Arya completed his half-century in just 16 balls. He was dismissed after scoring 57 runs off 20 deliveries. With this innings, Priyansh has etched a major record to his name. He has become the batsman to score the second-fastest half-century for PBKS in the history of the IPL. The record for the fastest half-century is held by KL Rahul, who reached the milestone in 14 balls against the Delhi Capitals (DC) during the 2023 IPL season.
