NZ vs IND: Glenn Phillips’ century powers New Zealand to 87-run victory over India

NZ vs IND: New Zealand produced a commanding performance to defeat India by 87 runs in the fourth T20I at Eden Park, Auckland, on Friday, October 30, 2026. A sensational century from Glenn Phillips and a brilliant four-wicket haul from Jacob Duffy helped the hosts register their first victory of the series, reducing India’s lead to 3-1.

India, having won the toss and elected to field, struggled to contain the New Zealand batters, who piled up a massive 259/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Phillips was the chief architect of the imposing total, smashing 107 off just 49 deliveries, including six fours and 10 sixes.

Bracewell adds firepower as India collapse in chase

Phillips found an ideal partner in Michael Bracewell, who smashed a blistering 65 off just 25 balls, striking four boundaries and six sixes. Their partnership transformed New Zealand’s innings, with the duo adding 100 runs in only 34 deliveries. Finn Allen also contributed 31 off 17 balls, while Daryl Mitchell made a quickfire 24 off nine deliveries. Mayank Yadav was India’s most successful bowler, claiming three wickets for 48 runs.

India’s chase got off to a disastrous start as Jacob Duffy dismissed Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan in the opening over. Although Abhishek Sharma contributed 27 off 15 balls and Shreyas Iyer scored 22 off 11, India lost four wickets inside the powerplay.

Tilak Varma top-scored with 35 off 35 deliveries, while Naman Dhir added 28 from just 13 balls. However, regular dismissals prevented India from building any meaningful momentum. Duffy finished with impressive figures of 4/23, while Mitchell Santner and Matthew Fisher claimed two wickets apiece.

India eventually finished at 172/9 in 20 overs, handing New Zealand a comprehensive 87-run victory. Phillips was named Player of the Match for his outstanding century as the hosts reduced India’s series lead to 3-1.

Brief scores: New Zealand 259/7 in 20 overs (Glenn Phillips 107, Michael Bracewell 65; Mayank Yadav 3-48) beat India 172/9 in 20 overs (Tilak Varma 35; Jacob Duffy 4-23, Mitchell Santner 2-24, Matt Fisher 2-40) by 87 runs.
