Yashasvi Jaiswal replaces injured Virat Kohli for ODI series against Afghanistan

India is set to play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan starting June 13, but the team’s star batter, Virat Kohli, had already been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. The BCCI has now announced his replacement. While several names were being considered to replace Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged as the choice and has secured a spot in the Indian ODI squad.

BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar announced that young opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been included in the ODI squad to replace Kohli. This announcement was made alongside the unveiling of the Indian squads for the T20 series against Ireland and England, as well as the Asian Games. Jaiswal is currently part of the Indian squad for the one-off Test match against Afghanistan in Mullanpur.

Although Jaiswal was not initially included when the squad for the Afghanistan series was first announced, he has now been brought into the team. Uncertainty remains regarding whether Kohli will play in the ODI series against England.
