Virat Kohli suffers hamstring injury, ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan

The Indian cricket team has suffered a major setback ahead of the ODI series against Afghanistan. According to some reports, star batsman Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the entire series due to a hamstring injury. The series is set to begin in Dharamsala on June 13th, but Kohli’s absence has raised concerns for the team management.

According to reports, Kohli suffered the injury during the IPL 2026 final. While batting in the title match against the Gujarat Titans, he appeared uncomfortable while running, but despite the pain, he finished the match and led his team to victory. A subsequent scan revealed a hamstring problem, after which he has been advised rest.

Virat has been in tremendous form in recent months

Kohli played a brilliant unbeaten inning of 75 runs in the final and played an important role in making Royal Challengers Bangalore the IPL champions for the second consecutive time. The 37-year-old Kohli has been in tremendous form in recent months. In IPL 2026, he scored 675 runs in 16 innings, including one century and five half-centuries. His average was over 56 and his strike rate was close to 165.

His performance in ODI cricket has also been consistently impressive. Last year, he scored the most runs for India and once again proved himself to be one of the team’s most reliable batsmen. Therefore, this injury is considered a major setback for him personally and strategically for Team India.
