Suryakumar left out of Mumbai squad, Siddhesh Lad named captain

India’s World Cup-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav has suffered a major setback. Following his exclusion from Team India, he is out of Mumbai’s Ranji team as well. On Monday (October 5), Mumbai announced the squad for their first match against Chandigarh, naming Siddhesh Lad as captain and young batsman Ayush Mhatre as vice-captain. Surya’s name was missing from the squad.

Mumbai will play their first match of the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy against Chandigarh between October 11 and 15. Currently, only the squad for the first match has been released. However, Surya’s omission is indeed surprising. Under Surya’s captaincy, Team India won the 2026 T20 World Cup. He last played as captain for India in the T20 World Cup final. Since then, he has not been included in the Men in Blue squad again.

Mumbai Squad: Siddhesh Lad (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ayush Mhatre (vice-captain), Divyansh Saxena, Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Suved Parkar, Aakash Anand (wk), Hardik Tamore (wk), Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Atharva Ankolekar, Tushar Deshpande, Mohit Awasthi, Sylvester Dsouza, Onkar Tarmale.

India name strong squad for Hong Kong Sixes 2026

Experienced fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has made the cut in Team India. Along with Bhuvneshwar, players like Krunal Pandya and Nitish Rana will also be part of the team. However, it’s worth noting that Bhuvneshwar has returned not to the senior Indian team, but to the squad currently participating in the Hong Kong Sixes Series. On Monday (October 5), Team India was announced for the Hong Kong Sixes series. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named India’s captain.

Amir Jangoo called up to West Indies T20I squad as Jewel Andrew cover

The first T20 match between India and the West Indies will be played on October 6th in Lucknow, but before that, the West Indies have made one change to their squad. Jewel Andrew will miss the first T20 match due to a finger injury. Amir Jangoo has been included in the Caribbean squad in his place.

Jewel Andrew suffered a finger injury during the third ODI against India. The injured Andrew Jewel has not yet been ruled out of the series and is still being evaluated by the medical team. Amir Jangoo is a left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman and performed exceptionally well in the ODI series against India. He scored 239 runs in three innings, including a century and two fifties.

Pakistan withdraw from World Championship of Legends

The Pakistan Champions team has withdrawn from the World Championship of Legends 2026. The PCB did not issue the necessary NOCs to the players, prompting the team to pull out of the tournament. Discussions regarding participation had been ongoing between the team management and the PCB. Team owner Kamil Khan had also urged the board to reconsider its decision, but the impasse between the two parties could not be resolved.

In a statement issued on Monday, Pakistan Champions said, “Pakistan Champions regrets to announce that the team will not be able to participate in the current season of the WCL because the PCB has upheld its decision not to issue the necessary NOCs. We respect the PCB’s authority and its decision. Naturally, we are disappointed that our players will not get the opportunity to represent Pakistan Champions in this global event featuring cricketing legends. We express our gratitude to our players, supporters, and fans for their support.”
