The United States of America (USA) produced a commanding run chase to defeat the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by six wickets in the 129th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup League Two 2023-27 at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Monday. Chasing 331, USA reached 332/4 in 48.5 overs, with Milind Kumar and Shubham Ranjane completing an emphatic victory.
UAE had put up an imposing 330/8 after being asked to bat first. Tanish Suri gave the innings a strong start with 78 off 78 balls, hitting 10 fours and two sixes, before Muhammad Shahdad took centre stage. Shahdad smashed a superb 114 off 107 deliveries, including nine fours and three sixes, to anchor the UAE innings.
Despite losing wickets regularly towards the end, UAE received a late boost from Basil Hameed, who struck an unbeaten 24 off just 11 balls with three sixes. Harmeet Singh was USA’s standout bowler, claiming four wickets for 65 runs.
Milind, Ranjane turn the chase into a one-sided affair
USA’s reply began briskly, although UAE did manage to remove Smit Patel for 27 and Shehan Jayasuriya for nine. Monank Patel contributed a valuable 55 off 62 balls, while Saiteja Mukkamalla added 56 from 62 to keep the chase on track.
The decisive moment came after USA slipped to 172/4 in the 31st over. Milind Kumar then produced a sensational unbeaten 116 off only 84 balls, smashing seven fours and five sixes. He was brilliantly supported by Shubham Ranjane, who remained unbeaten on 57 from 49 deliveries, including two fours and three sixes. Their unbroken 160-run partnership off 110 balls completely took the game away from UAE.
USA’s chase was completed with seven balls remaining, underlining their batting dominance. Milind’s explosive century earned him Player of the Match honours, while the six-wicket win strengthened USA’s position in the League Two campaign.
