The Indian cricket team defeated Zimbabwe 3-0 in the three-match T20 series. In the third T20, India beat Zimbabwe by 35 runs to clinch both the match and the series. Young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played a pivotal role in India’s victory; by scoring the most runs in both the match and the tournament, he was named both ‘Player of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Series’. In doing so, Vaibhav broke a record held by Sachin Tendulkar, becoming the youngest player in Indian men’s cricket to win both these awards in any format. Following this honor, Vaibhav remarked that winning the ‘Player of the Series’ award was a dream come true for him.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Sooryavanshi said, “It feels amazing. It is a dream come true for me. I have received my first ‘Player of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Series’ awards. My preparation here was also excellent.” He added, “The coach, captain, and the entire team supported me fully. I tried to play my natural T20 game. My aim is to provide the team with a good start, and if I get a good start, I try to play a big innings.”

A three-match T20 series was played between India and Zimbabwe, with India clinching the series 3-0. CSK makes mega offer for Hardik Pandya

Discussions regarding player trade deals have intensified ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League. All-rounder Hardik Pandya’s name is in the headlines as the biggest trade for the upcoming season. Hardik is currently with the five-time champion Mumbai Indians, but the franchise has decided to release him before the next season.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the Chennai Super Kings are interested in trading Hardik to the Mumbai Indians. Mumbai had demanded Ayush Mhatre and cash from CSK in exchange for Hardik. However, it is reported that CSK is not in favor of trading Mhatre for Hardik. Instead, they have offered Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, and ₹10 crore for the Mumbai all-rounder.

BCCI to review Team India’s performance in August

The BCCI is closely monitoring the Indian cricket team’s recent performance. Even Ireland defeated Team India 0-2 on the UK tour. England then swept the Indian team in the T20 and ODI series. Team India played 10 matches on the UK tour, winning just one. Now, there’s news that the BCCI may soon hold a review meeting regarding this performance.

According to Cricbuzz, this review meeting could take place in early August. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that the review meeting will focus on the Ireland and England white-ball series, specifically. However, the date of the meeting has not yet been revealed.

Nitish Kumar Reddy not to be selected for Test series against Sri Lanka

The Indian team is scheduled to tour Sri Lanka in August 2026. A two-match Test series will be held between the two countries. This series will be crucial for Team India in terms of the World Test Championship. The Indian team must win both matches at any cost. Reports indicate that Team India will be selected for the Sri Lanka tour on July 28th. Prior to this, there were reports that Nitish Kumar Reddy may be out of the series.

According to a Cricbuzz report, Nitish Kumar Reddy will not be selected for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Reddy has reportedly been undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s CoE in Bengaluru since suffering an injury last month. Reddy is one of the few players who is part of India’s team in all three formats. The report also reveals that Reddy has resumed bowling in the CoE, but is not yet fit enough to bowl consistently in Test matches.
