IND vs ZIM: India defeated Zimbabwe by 35 runs in the third T20 match. With this, Team India completed a 3-0 series sweep of hosts Zimbabwe. In the match played in Harare, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played a brilliant innings of 81 runs for Team India. Mayank Yadav wreaked havoc again with the ball, and Ashok Sharma took the wicket of his international career.
The Indian team recently regained its number one spot in the T20I rankings. The 35-run victory over Zimbabwe in the third match must have doubled the joy in the Indian camp. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, they set a target of 192 runs. In response, Zimbabwe could only manage 157 runs in 20 overs.
Sooryavanshi shines in India’s victory
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was the hero of India’s victory in this match. His opening partner, Abhishek Sharma, suffered a hat-trick of flops, but Vaibhav played a composed innings of 81 runs off 49 balls. Abhishek managed just two runs. Ishan Kishan contributed 29 runs and captain Shreyas Iyer piled 27 runs. Rinku Singh, in a finishing style, scored 25 runs off 14 balls to take India to 192.
When Zimbabwe came out to bat, Mayank Yadav, like in the first match of the series, dismissed Brian Bennett on the very first ball of the innings. Mayank’s sharp bowling helped him take three wickets. However, the Indian fielders also dropped numerous catches and fielding was poor.
Ashok Sharma could have taken his first international wicket in the second over of his spell, but Ishan Kishan, despite having gloves on, missed a simple catch. However, Ashok went on to claim his first wicket by dismissing Marumani.
After losing series to Ireland and England, the Indian team dropped from the top spot in the T20I rankings after four years. However, after winning the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe, Team India regained the top spot, surpassing England. Now, after regaining the No. 1 spot, the 3-0 series win over Zimbabwe further benefited Team India.
