MCA becomes first state association to introduce contracts for domestic players

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) introduced a contract system for domestic players based on performance, fitness, and the selection committee’s recommendations. The MCA became the first state association in India to introduce a contract system for domestic players. The contracts will be categorised into three grades-  Grade A for INR 12 lakh to 20 lakh per annum, Grade B for INR 8 lakh to 12 lakh per annum, Grade C for INR 8 lakh per annum.

“The system is designed to support players who are on the cusp of higher honours, ensuring stability and motivation to perform consistently at the domestic level,” the MCA said in a release.

MCA president Ajinkya Naik said, “We are proud to be the first association to implement a player contract system – a progressive step that will provide greater security, structure, and growth opportunities for our Mumbai players. It reflects our vision to strengthen the foundation of Mumbai cricket and empower the next generation of cricketers.”

BCB introduces “captains card” to honour Bangladesh cricket captains

On Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) introduced a lifetime “captains’ card” for current and former national team captains. The card comes with a range of benefits to 33 captains- 27 from the men’s team and six from the women’s team who have led Bangladesh since 1977. Tamim Iqbal, current BCB ad-hoc body head described it as a small but meaningful step towards honouring former captains and recognising their effort.

“This card is not something very big – certainly not compared to what all of you have given to Bangladesh cricket. But this is a start,” said Tamim in his speech while opening the ceremony on Thursday.

“There was always an insecurity – what if I go to the ground and I’m not recognised, or stopped at the gate? Will my respect be maintained? I have felt this myself at times, and I’m sure many of you have as well. It’s unfortunate that those who built Bangladesh cricket even have to think like this,” he said.

RR manager fined INR 1 lakh for breaching IPL’s PMOA protocols

The Anti-Corruption and Security Unit of BCCI imposed a fine of INR 1 lakh on Rajasthan Royals manager Romi Bhinder but cleared him of any wrongdoing. Bhinder was seen using mobile phone in the team’s dugout area during the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Guwahati. Bhinder was found guilty of breaching the IPL’s PMOA (Players’ and Match Officials’ Area) protocols.

Bhinder reportedly admitted to the offence and offered an unconditional apology citing his health conditions. Therefore, the ACSU accepted the explanation and opted for a monetary penalty. An official IPL release stated, “As this was his first breach under the prescribed protocols, a fine of INR 1 Lakh has been imposed in accordance with Article 7.42(a) of the BCCI IPL PMOA Protocols. He has also been warned to exercise greater care in the future and to adhere strictly to the established guidelines.”
