As Sri Lanka prepares to clash with six-time champions India in the Women’s Asia Cup final, batter Hasini Perera caught up with CricHub to reflect on their journey and outline their mindset ahead of the Sunday’s summit clash in Dubai.

CricHub: Congratulations on reaching the final! Yesterday’s match was a tight, high-stakes affair. How tough was it out there?

Hasini Perera: Our bowlers did a great job. While the top order couldn’t get going in the last few games, the lower order really held their nerve, kept the game alive, and got us to a competitive score.

CricHub: As defending champions, how confident is the squad about facing India tomorrow?

Hasini Perera: Everyone is pretty confident, but tomorrow is a new day and a new game. We just have to execute our process right and stick to our basics.

CricHub: How have you found adapting to the UAE conditions?

Hasini Perera: It hasn’t been easy to bat on; you have to take a moment to adjust. Our lower order adapted quickly, and hopefully, our top order performs better tomorrow.

CricHub: Chamari Athapaththu has been leading from the front with both bat and ball. What is her impact on the team?

Hasini Perera: She leads exceptionally well. Chamari always has a clear plan and communicates seamlessly with the players and coaching staff.

CricHub: India’s spin attack has been lethal. Is there a specific strategy to counter them?

Hasini Perera: As a batting unit, we’ve put our heads together, shared ideas, and worked through specific plans with the coaches during practice. Across all three departments, if we focus on our process rather than the end result, the outcome will take care of itself.
