IND vs AFG: In the first T20I played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India defeated Afghanistan by 7 wickets. Abhishek Sharma played a blistering innings for India, scoring 82 runs in just 32 balls. Afghanistan set a target of 157 runs for India, which Team India achieved in the 13.4 overs. With this, Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series (IND vs AFG).

India scored 82 runs in the powerplay

Afghanistan could only manage 156 runs against the lethal bowling of Arshdeep Singh (3 wickets). India’s reply was also poor. Sanju Samson was dismissed in the third over, scoring only 10 runs off eight balls with the help of two fours. However, Abhishek Sharma’s bat remained unstoppable. He scored runs all around the field. Abhishek reached his half-century in just 22 balls. Ishan Kishan also provided good support. Thus, India scored 82 runs in the powerplay, i.e., six overs.

Abhishek Sharma missed out on a century in this clash. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 82 runs off 32 balls. During this period, he hit 7 fours and 7 sixes. As things amplify, Abhishek scored 70 runs from boundaries. Ishan Kishan scored 42 runs off 33 balls, hitting 5 fours and 1 six. Captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on eight runs off five balls, and vice-captain Tilak Verma remained unbeaten on three runs off four balls.

Earlier, Arshdeep Singh shone with the ball. He took three wickets for 19 runs in four overs. Varun Chakravarthy, meanwhile, conceded 16 runs in four overs and took one wicket. Azmatullah Umarzai top-scored for Afghanistan with an unbeaten 64. The second T20 match will be played on the same ground on September 15th. Afghanistan is the host nation in this series.
