It’s Official: Rishabh Pant traded to DC, Kuldeep Yadav moves to LSG

In one of the most high-profile trades in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rishabh Pant has been traded back to Delhi Capitals (DC), while Kuldeep Yadav has moved the other way to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Pant, who was bought for INR 27 crore by LSG, will earn INR 15 crore with DC. Kuldeep, on the other hand, has been bought for INR 13.5 crore.

Whether or not Pant will return as captain is yet to be determined. He led DC in 43 matches between 2021 and 2024, before his big-money move to LSG. Overall, Pant played 111 matches for DC between 2016 and 2024 – the most by a player for the franchise.

Axar Patel led DC on a full-time basis after Pant’s departure from the franchise. In 2025, DC finished fifth, while they finished sixth the following season.

It was way worse for Pant at LSG, as his side finished 10th last season, and in the one before that, they finished seventh. The wicketkeeper stepped down as captain after an abysmal season. Moreover, there were several reports of animosity between him and the owner, Sanjeev Goenka, which may have further triggered a move away from the team.

Kuldeep spent five seasons at DC since arriving in 2022. He picked up 72 wickets from 65 matches for the franchise. LSG will be Kuldeep’s third franchise, having represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) between 2016 and 2021 before moving to DC.
