IPL 2026 Final: “There was no pressure of winning the trophy like last season”, said Virat Kohli

Earlier, Kohli had scored a half-century in 26 balls against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the year 2018. We wanted to finish on top: Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli said after the title win, “I told some of the boys that it doesn’t feel like there’s the same pressure this time as there was last year. The boys’ composure was evident tonight. We suffered a few losses after the break, but we wanted to finish on top. The win against Mumbai Indians gave us a lot of confidence. Having a group of boys like this where you don’t feel like you’re the only one stepping up and taking responsibility for the team is really great.”

“We have so many Man of the Match awards cranked throughout the group as well. I mean, you look at world-class bowling like Hoff, Bhuvi, Duffy. I mean, Krunal Pandya, you know, you can bank on him, as good as ever. Rasikh Dar was brilliant this season. All the batsmen chipped in as well. So I feel so happy to play in a group where we have balance, we have strength, and we are an all-round strong team. And yeah, that’s why we have the confidence we have on the field right now.”

RCB won its first trophy in 2025. In the final, Gujarat Titans, after losing the toss and batting first, scored 155 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Washington Sundar scored an unbeaten 50 off 37 balls with 5 fours, while Nishant Sandhu added 20 runs. Jos Buttler also contributed 19 runs for the team. Rasikh Salam Dar took the maximum 3 wickets for the opposition.

In response, RCB won the title in 18 overs. Virat Kohli top-scored for the team, while Venkatesh Iyer added 32 runs from 16 balls. Tim David contributed 24 runs for the team.
