BCCI has taken strict action against Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag on the vaping scandal and has imposed a fine of 25 percent on him. A video of Parag vaping (e-cigarette) in the dressing room during a match went viral. BCCI has taken action against Parag under Level-1 offence. The Indian board has also imposed a demerit point on Parag. Last Tuesday in IPL 2026, 24-year-old Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag suddenly came into the limelight during the match against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh. Parag was found using vape in the dressing room of Rajasthan Royals. There was a lot of uproar after this incident.
BCCI imposed a fine of 25 percent on Riyan
“Riyan was found to have breached Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to ‘conduct bringing the game into disrepute’. The incident occurred during the second innings when Riyan was seen using a vape inside the dressing room,” the IPL release read. It further read, “Riyan admitted the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Amit Sharma.”
While RR’s IPL campaign is going very well collectively, they have won six matches and lost three and are currently a strong contender for the playoffs with 12 points and are currently in fourth place. Riyan himself is performing poorly with the bat. He has scored just 117 runs in nine matches, averaging 14.62, having a strike rate of 124.46, and having a best score of 29.
So far, RR’s impressive campaign has been led by the opening pair of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (400 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of over 238, including a century and two half-centuries) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (306 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of over 158, including three half-centuries). The pace duo of Jofra Archer (14 wickets at 19.50) and Nandre Burger (nine wickets at 32.77) have also performed exceptionally well.
