IND vs ENG: England defeated India by 125 runs in the third T20I match. This is Team India’s biggest defeat in international T20I cricket. With this historic victory, England has taken a 2-0 lead in the series. In the match played in Nottingham, hosts England batted first and scored 201 runs. In response, India were all out for 76.
India’s biggest defeat in T20
Previously, India had never suffered a defeat by 100 runs or more in T20 cricket history. England became the first country to achieve this feat. From Vaibhav Suryavanshi to Abhishek Sharma and captain Shreyas Iyer, all failed miserably. Shreyas Iyer’s streak of consecutive match wins as captain continues.
Previously, Team India’s biggest T20I defeat was 80 runs, which came against New Zealand in 2019. The 76 runs mark is the second-lowest total by an Indian team in T20I cricket history. India’s lowest total is 74, which came against Australia in 2008. In this clash, England, having lost the toss and opted to bat in Nottingham, scored 201 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated overs.
All the stars flopped for India
For the second consecutive match, the Indian team dropped Sanju Samson and gave Vaibhav Sooryavanshi a chance. Sooryavanshi, like in his debut match, smashed two sixes and departed. He scored 13 runs off five balls. Abhishek Sharma made 10, and Ishan Kishan made 13. Soon, the score was 41 for four. Captain Shreyas Iyer managed just 5 runs. Axar Patel did hit a brilliant six off Jofra Archer, but he too managed just 10 runs. India’s first five wickets added 52 runs, while the last five fell for just 16 runs.
