IND A vs SL A: Sooryavanshi scores 11-ball fifty, fastest in List A cricket

IND A vs SL A: India’s new batting sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, broke the record with his batting performance against Sri Lanka A in the tri-series final. Batting first, Vaibhav, along with Priyansh Arya, gave India a solid start. Vaibhav smashed his 50 off just 11 balls, breaking a 20-year-old record. He became the fastest player to score a half-century in List A cricket.

India made a solid start

Sri Lanka A won the toss in the final of the triangular series and decided to bowl first. Vaibhav and Priyansh Arya came out to bat for India A. Both these batsmen started batting aggressively from the very first ball. During this, both Vaibhav and Priyansh got many lives, which they took full advantage of. Vaibhav and Priyansh batted so fast, that helped India A cross the 50-run mark in just three overs. Vaibhav did not stop here and he took the Sri Lanka A bowlers to task. Vaibhav completed his half-century in 11 balls and broke the record of fastest fifty in List A cricket.

Vaibhav missed out on a century

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s brilliant innings came to an end. Vaibhav performed brilliantly in the tri-series final against Sri Lanka A and scored the fastest half-century in List A cricket. He was moving towards a century but lost his wicket to Sahan Arachaige. Vaibhav scored 94 runs in 29 balls with the help of 10 fours and eight sixes. Vaibhav along with Priyansh Arya made a partnership of 132 runs in 53 balls for the first wicket.

Following his IPL 2026 debut, Vaibhav’s batting performance in the tri-series final has strengthened his case for an international debut. India announced the Indian squad for the five T20Is against Ireland and England, where Vaibhav was included for the first time. It will be interesting to see whether the 15-year-old batsman makes it to the playing XI. If he succeeds, he will become the youngest player to make his international debut for India, surpassing legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar in this regard.
