Shimron Hetmyer and Marcus Stonis wreaked havoc in Oalkand with blistering knocks to take Seattle Orcas to 227/6. Hetmyer smashed nine sixes on his way to an unbeaten 33-ball 79, while Stoinis smashed five sixes in an over off Ian Holland to hit 42 off just 16 deliveries. Things got better for the Orcas as Jasdeep Singh became only the fifth bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul in Major League Cricket (MLC).

The onslaught
The Orcas had three 50-plus stands that set the tone for them. First, it was the opening stand between Tim Seifert (37) and Shayan Jahangir (22), who put on 59 in the powerplay. After that, Matthew Breetzke (32) and Hetmyer added 75 off just 40 balls for the third wicket. Then, finally, it was Stoinis, who joined the party with Hetmyer, putting on 51 off just 21 for the fourth wicket.

Seattle got a big total on the board despite Marco Jansen picking up 3/33 in his four overs.
Match over in the powerplay
At 42/5 in the powerplay, the game was done and dusted for the Freedom. However, Jansen (20) and Holland’s (26) 40-run stand, followed by a stand of 35 off 14 between Amila Aponso (31*) and Saurabh Netravalkar (7), took their side to 139, eventually succumbing to a massive 88-run defeat, thanks to a brilliant spell from Jasdeep.
With this win, the Orcas jump to second on the points table with four points from four matches, while Freedom are rooted to the bottom of the table with two points from three matches.
