Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been appointed the national team’s new head coach for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on April 18 (Saturday). Sarfaraz led the Under-19 team to Asia Cup success recently. Asad Shafiq and Umar Gul will assist Sarfaraz during the tour as batting and bowling coach, respectively.
Fresh faces
Shan Masood will lead the side in the Test series, which is part of the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. The squad features uncapped players such as Abdullah Fazal, Amad Butt, Azan Awais and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori.
Azan Awais, Imam-ul-Haq, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan are already part of the training camp currently going on in Lahore. The entire team will assemble in Karachi from April 27 until May 1 before their departure for Bangladesh on May 2. Those participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 will join the team after their campaign ends, while those playing the final will join the team directly on May 3 once the tournament is over.
The first Test will be played in Dhaka from May 8 onwards and the action will shift to Sylhet for the second Test, starting May 16.
