ENG vs NZ: New Zealand has secured a 204-run lead in the ongoing third and deciding Test match against England at Trent Bridge. By the close of play on day three, the visiting team had reached 120 for 3. Opting to bat after winning the toss, New Zealand scored 438 runs in their first innings. The opening pair of captain Tom Latham and Devon Conway shared a 317-run partnership for the first wicket.
Latham was dismissed for 151, hitting 15 fours, while Conway scored 157, including 22 fours and 3 sixes. Additionally, Henry Nicholls contributed 36 runs and Tom Blundell added 30. For the opposition, Ben Stokes claimed the most wickets with four, while Jofra Archer and Shoaib Bashir took two wickets each. In response, England’s first innings folded for 354 runs. They suffered an early setback with the loss of Emilio (0) at a score of just 8. Ben Duckett then steadied the innings by adding 179 runs for the second wicket with Jacob Bethell.

Duckett scored 113 off 99 balls with 19 fours, while Bethell contributed 74 runs. Harry Brook also played an innings of 58 runs. For the visitors, Nathan Smith took four wickets, while William O’Rourke and Zakary Foulkes claimed three each. New Zealand held a significant 84-run lead based on the first innings. By the end of the third day, they had reached 120 for 3, having lost two wickets by the time the score reached 12. From this point, Rachin Ravindra attempted to steady the innings by sharing a 39-run partnership for the third wicket with Henry Nicholls.
After Nicholls was dismissed for 16, Rachin combined with Daryl Mitchell for an unbroken 69-run stand for the fourth wicket, taking the team’s score to 120/3. Rachin remains unbeaten on 60, having hit eight fours, while Mitchell has contributed 26 runs, including three fours. For the hosts, Jofra Archer claimed two wickets, while Gus Atkinson picked up one. England won the first match of the series by 115 runs, but New Zealand bounced back in the next game to secure a 253-run victory; consequently, the third match has become the decider.
