Brook came on when England were 33/3 in the 13th over. England’s score soon dropped to 55/5. In that crucial moment, Brook scored the 16th half-century of his Test career. Significantly, Brook was given two lives during his innings. Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra dropped catches of the English batter. He was dismissed for 56 off 71 balls.
In response, Ollie Robinson handed New Zealand a poor start by taking three wickets in his first over of the second innings. He dismissed Devon Conway (1), Kane Williamson (0), and Rachin Ravindra (0). He then bowled Daryl Mitchell (12). Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue each took one wicket. New Zealand currently trail by 79 runs based on their first innings.
