IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are yet to open their account in IPL 2026. The team has played three matches and has suffered defeat in all three. Apart from Mahendra Singh Dhoni, South Africa’s explosive batsman Dewald Brevis has also missed all three matches. He was unable to participate in the team’s first three fixtures due to a side strain injury sustained during training. Now, Brevis himself has dropped a hint regarding his return to action.
During a recent event held in Chennai, Dewald Brevis was spotted alongside Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Ayush Mhatre. When asked to share a message for the fans, the 22-year-old provided a significant update through his statement. He said, “See you guys on the 11th… in every match, wherever we play.”

The Chennai Super Kings are scheduled to play their next match against the Delhi Capitals on April 11. This contest will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Dewald Brevis’s return is expected to bolster the Chennai Super Kings’ batting lineup. Brevis joined CSK last season as an injury replacement. In 6 matches for the team, he scored 225 runs at an average of 37.50 and a strike rate of 180. This tally includes two half-centuries. In a T20 career spanning 135 matches, Brevis has amassed 3,240 runs at a strike rate of 154.
Following defeats against the Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, CSK side currently sits at the bottom of the points table. The team’s batters have been a major disappointment. At the top of the order, Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson have failed miserably. In the auction, a bid exceeding ₹14 crore was placed for Kartik Sharma. However, he too has failed to live up to expectations so far.
