All you need to know about ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026: Format, schedule, squads, venues, prize money

The 10th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is set to begin on June 12 with the final scheduled to be played on July 5. Twelve teams will participate in the biggest Women’s T20 World Cup ever this year, with hosts England kicking off the tournament by taking on Sri Lanka in the opening game at Edgbaston.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 format details

Teams have been divided into two groups, with each group featuring six teams. The group stages matches will be wrapped up on June 28, as two semifinals will be played on June 30 and July 2, respectively, at the Oval before the final at Lord’s.

The tournament will be played in a similar fashion to the 2024 format. The teams will take on every other team in their group once, and then top two teams from the groups will move on to the semifinal stage. The team finishing at the top will then play the second-place finisher from the other group.

What are the groups?

Group A: Australia, India, Netherlands, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh

Group B: England, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, Sri Lanka, West Indies

What are the venues?

After hosting the opening match of the tournament, Edgbaston in Birmingham will host another three fixtures, whereas Bristol County Ground and the Rose Bowl in Southampton will host six matches each. Old Trafford in Manchester and Headingley in Leeds will host five matches each. The Oval will host the semi-finals alongside one more match. Lord’s will host the final and three group stage fixtures.

Official warm-up matches will take place in Cardiff, Derby, and Loughborough.

Prize money

The ICC has announced an increase to the prize money for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. This year the winners will get US$2,340,000, while the runners-up will receive US$1,170,000. Both losing semi-finalists will earn US$675,000 each.
