India’s “speed gun” Mayank Yadav has created history. He set a historic record by taking the wicket of Brian Bennett off the first ball of the third T20I against Zimbabwe. He became only the second Indian bowler in T20 International cricket to take a wicket off the first ball of an innings three times.
Mayank has done this twice in this series against Zimbabwe. In the first T20 match, he took the wicket of Brian Bennett on the first ball of the innings. The same scenario was repeated in the third match. This time too, Mayank took the wicket of Brian Bennett on the first ball of the innings.
Mayank Yadav creates history
Mayank Yadav is now the second bowler to take a wicket off the first ball of an innings in a T20 match three times. Before him, only Bhuvneshwar Kumar has achieved this feat three times. Bhuvneshwar has also taken a wicket off the first ball of an innings three times in his career. For India, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh have done so twice each.

Mayank Yadav has taken a wicket on the first ball of the innings twice in the series against Zimbabwe. He first did so in 2024. In October of that year, during the final T20 match of the India-Bangladesh series, Bangladesh were chasing a target of 298 runs. Mayank Yadav dismissed Parvez Hossain Emon on the very first ball of Bangladesh’s innings.
