England announce squad for final Test against Pakistan
England, having taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the Test series against Pakistan, will now aim for a clean sweep. England has announced a 15-member squad for the third and final Test to be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Most notably, fast bowler Brydon Carse, who was dropped from the team following a controversial incident last month, has once again been left out.
England won the second Test at Lord’s to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Now, the team will be looking to whitewash Pakistan 3-0 . The third and final Test will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham, starting September 9th. Joe Root has been named captain of the England team.

India to host for inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy
India has been awarded the hosting rights for the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027. The tournament will be held from February 14th to 28th. This will be the first time the Women’s Champions Trophy will be played. Currently, women’s cricket has only hosted two ICC events: the ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup. Matches for this six-team tournament will be played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and the International Cricket Stadium in Vadodara.
Sri Lanka was originally scheduled to host the tournament. However, necessary reforms are still underway within Sri Lankan cricket, leading to the decision to move the tournament from Sri Lanka to India. Bangladesh, India, and South Africa were considered for hosting. The ICC ultimately awarded the hosting rights to India after considering several factors.
Towhid Hridoy creates history with 350* in Bangladesh A game
New history has been made in Bangladesh cricket. Bangladesh batsman Towhid Hridoy wreaked such havoc with his batting in South Africa that he shattered the legendary Tamim Iqbal’s long-standing record. Playing for Bangladesh A, Hridoy smashed an unbeaten 350 in an unofficial Test against South Africa A, setting the highest individual score for Bangladesh in first-class cricket.
On the fourth day of the match played in Potchefstroom, Hridoy hit 27 fours and 10 sixes in his historic innings of 481 balls. With this, he broke Tamim Iqbal’s record of 334 runs not out. Tamim played this innings in a Bangladesh Cricket League match in 2020. Hridoy has now become the third batsman from Bangladesh to score a triple century in first-class cricket. Before him, only Tamim and Rakibul Hasan were able to achieve this feat. Rakibul had scored an unbeaten 313 runs in the National Cricket League in 2007.
