Abhishek Sharma smashed the fastest T20 century for India
Abhishek Sharma batted brilliantly in the third match of the T20 series against Afghanistan. He reached his century in 30 balls, becoming the fastest batsman to score a century for a full-fledged team. He also broke Rohit Sharma’s record for the fastest century for India in T20Is. Rohit had scored a century against Sri Lanka in 35 balls. Abhishek also batted brilliantly in the first match of this series, scoring 82 runs in 32 balls to lead India to victory. In the second match, he was dismissed for 39 runs in 19 balls. Abhishek finished with 108 runs in 34 balls in this match. He hit 9 fours and 11 sixes in this innings, and his strike rate was 317. Rashid Khan had him caught by wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

Pakistan defeat Thailand to secure semi-final berth
The Pakistan women’s cricket team has qualified for the semi-finals of the 2026 Asian Games. Pakistan defeated Thailand by 3 wickets in the quarter-final match played at the Korogi Sports Park. However, they struggled to defeat Thailand, winning in the final over. Due to a wet outfield caused by heavy rain, the match was reduced to 11 overs a side.
Batting first, Thailand’s batsmen performed well and scored 91 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 11 overs. Nannapat Koncharoenkai led the team with a superb batting performance, scoring 49 runs from 38 balls. Chasing the target, Pakistan got off to a blistering start with Gul Feroza and Shawal Zulfiqar. Captain Fatima Sana took charge, scoring a crucial 21 runs off 13 balls to secure Pakistan’s place in the semifinals. Fatima hit three fours and a six in her innings. She added 26 runs in 13 balls with Iman Fatima.
Tavengwa Mukuhlani appointed ICC’s deputy chairperson
Zimbabwe Cricket Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani has been appointed the new Deputy Chairperson of the International Cricket Council (ICC) . He will hold this position until November 2027. Notably, Mukuhlani is the first Zimbabwean to hold the position of Deputy Chairperson of the ICC. Mukuhlani represents Zimbabwe on the ICC Board and also serves as Chairman of Zimbabwe Cricket. He will replace Imran Khawaja, who stepped down from the position and has been appointed to the position.
Mukuhlani already serves on several key committees at the ICC. He serves on the Finance and Commercial Affairs (F&CA) and Nominations Committees, and also chairs the HR and Remunerations Committee. Given his extensive experience in cricket administration, he has been given this important responsibility.
Rizwan faces gambling investigation, petition dismissed by Court
After decades of suffering from match-fixing scandals, Pakistani cricket has been hit with a new betting scandal. Pakistani cricket team wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has been accused of online betting and gambling. The allegations are being investigated by Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). On September 8th, the NCCIA issued a notice to Mohammad Rizwan, asking him five pages of questions. The notice, issued by Sub-Inspector Tanveer Hussain of Lahore’s Cyber Crime Center, stated that they are investigating online betting and gambling in Pakistani cricket, and that Mohammad Rizwan should appear to record his statement.
