IND vs AFG: India defeated Afghanistan by 127 runs in the third T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday (September 17). With this victory, India secured a 3-0 series win. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson bombed with the bat, while Nitish Kumar Reddy, starred with the ball. Batting first, Team India scored 221 for 7 in 20 overs. Chasing the target, Afghanistan was all out for 94 in 14.1 overs.
Abhishek Sharma wrecked havoc with the bat
Abhishek Sharma played the biggest innings for India, scoring 108 runs in 34 balls with the help of 9 fours and 11 sixes. He reached his century in just 30 balls. With this, Abhishek became the fastest batsman to score a century for a Full Member team. Sanju played an innings of 50 runs. The two bolstered the team with a 142-run partnership (59 balls) for the first wicket. The team’s first wicket fell in the form of Abhishek Sharma, after which the run rate slowed down.
In the second innings, Nitish Kumar Reddy took the most wickets for India, taking three wickets in a single over. Ravi Bishnoi also took three wickets. Axar Patel took two wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and Yash Thakur each took one wicket.
Afghanistan broke down during the chase
Afghanistan, captained by Ibrahim Zadran, faced a huge total. The pressure was evident right from the start. The first wicket fell at 31, that of Gurbaz, who made 15. After that, the team crumbled like a pack of cards. The team lost its second wicket at 33, the third at 39, the fourth at 47, the fifth at 70, the sixth at 81, the seventh at 82, the eighth at 82, the ninth at 89, and the tenth at 94. Zadran top-scored with 25 runs. No other batsman could reach 20. Seven of the team’s batsmen failed to reach double figures.
