“I think it’s a complete win for us”: Gill
The one-off Test between India and Afghanistan began June 6 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. The match ended on the third day. The team, captained by Shubman Gill, won by an innings and 300 runs. This was India’s biggest Test victory, after which Captain Gill made a significant statement.
Gill called it a complete win. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Indian captain Shubman Gill said, “I think it’s a complete win for us, we ticked all the boxes. I’m very happy with it.” Gill was asked about enforcing the follow-on. He replied, “It was very hot. If we got them out before lunch, we would have enforced the follow-on, otherwise we would have batted for a few more sessions.”
“It would be wrong to place excessive expectations on Vaibhav,” says Kapil Dev
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has earned a spot in Team India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has included him in the Indian squads for the T20 series against Ireland and England, as well as for the Asian Games. Following his selection, India’s World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev made a significant statement, cautioning that it would be wrong to place excessive expectations on him.
Speaking to the news agency PTI, Kapil Dev said, “He is a special talent; give him time, though he has already demonstrated his talent in a unique way. I find him incredible, but he will need to conduct himself properly within Team India, stay fit, and manage various other aspects.” Kapil Dev added, “Only he can answer how focused he is, but to me, he is a special talent. There is nothing wrong with respecting a young player, but it would be incorrect to have overly high expectations at this stage.”
