Shubman Gill Breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s Record
Indian Test captain Shubman Gill made history by scoring a magnificent century in the one-off Test match against Afghanistan. On the first day of the match in Mullanpur, India scored 368 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. By scoring an unbeaten 103, Captain Gill not only put Team India in a strong position but also broke a major record held by legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar during his innings. In doing so, Gill also surpassed MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
Shubman Gill has become the fastest Indian batsman to complete 1,000 runs in Test cricket as captain. He achieved this feat in just 351 days, spanning from the first Test of his captaincy tenure to the current match. Previously, this record was held by Sachin Tendulkar, who took 405 days to reach the 1,000-run mark as captain. Additionally, Gill has become the 11th Indian batsman to complete 1,000 runs in Test cricket while serving as captain.
Reason is other than cricket, says Ravi Ashwin
Just two months after becoming champions in the T20 World Cup 2026, Suryakumar Yadav has been dropped from the team, both as captain and as a member of the team. Social media has been abuzz since Team India’s announcement. Veteran R Ashwin was furious after Surya’s departure from captaincy, openly questioning the selection. Speaking on ESPNcricinfo, Ashwin said, “Is there any instance where a T20 World Cup-winning captain has been dropped without any warning? I’m sure there must have been discussions. But if you ask me, this is a very important day in terms of selection, because the next time something like this happens, it will be seen as an example.”
BCCI gives opportunity to 4 young players
On Saturday, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar announced India A’s squad for two multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A. Dhruv Jurel has been appointed captain. The team also includes Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudarshan, and Devdutt Padikkal. Four young players have also been included in the squad. Sheikh Rashid, who has been performing well in domestic cricket, has been given a chance in the India A team. The Indian selectors have also given a chance to Aman Mokhade. Ayush Pandey and Zeeshan Ansari have also been included in this team.
