India ready for Afghanistan challenge in Chandigarh Test

The one-off Test match between the Indian cricket team and the Afghanistan cricket team begins on Saturday, June 6th. The match will be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur until June 10th. However, this Test is not part of the World Test Championship cycle. The Indian team is ranked sixth in the WTC points table.

When it comes to the head-to-head between India and Afghanistan, Team India has the upper hand. Only one Test match has been played between the two teams so far, and the Indian team has won that match. This match was played in June 2018. The Indian team, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, won this Test match in Bengaluru by an innings and 262 runs.

Virat Kohli may be ruled out of the England series

Veteran batsman Virat Kohli’s injury has further increased the concerns of Team India and its fans. Kohli could be ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan. Virat suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final. Consequently, he could be ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan, starting June 13th.

Now, another news has emerged regarding Kohli, stating that he will not be able to play in England. The ODI series against England is scheduled to begin on July 14th, with just over a month remaining. However, Kohli’s injury is serious and he may not be available for this series either. Virat played an unbeaten 75 in the IPL 2026 final, leading his team to victory, but his return to the Indian team may now be delayed.

Shreyas Iyer to play ‘double role’, captain & coach!

Indian cricket team star Shreyas Iyer will soon be seen in a double role. Iyer joined the AI-based sports technology platform Kabuni as a super coach ahead of its launch on Friday. The star player becomes the fourth cricketer to join the platform. Former cricketers Sourav Ganguly, AB de Villiers, and Shane Watson are also super coaches on the platform, which aims to provide opportunities to schools, parents, and budding cricketers. The nationwide tournament is titled “Do you want to play for a legend?” It will be held this month and cricketers aged 12 to 16 will be able to participate.
