BCCI eyes March 10 start for IPL 2027 to beat summer heat

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering changing the schedule of the Indian Premier League 2027 (IPL 2027) to avoid the challenges of heat and rain. As part of this plan, discussions are underway to start future IPL seasons around March 10 and end by May 15. The move is aimed at avoiding the extreme heat in the final stages of the tournament, while also maintaining the current structure and competitive balance. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed this.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said, “This year, the IPL started around March 29 (March 28) and ended on May 31. We are just discussing the possibility of rain or the onset of the pre-monsoon season during the last leg of the tournament (i.e., after May 15). On the other hand, the heat is also very intense, which is not good for either the players or the spectators.”
