Mayank Yadav gained attention in IPL 2024 due to his rapid pace and soon earned him a chance to play for the Indian team. However, due to a back injury and other fitness issues, he was out of action for a long time. Mayank Yadav was also able to play only four matches in the IPL 2026 season. Now, after his return to international cricket against Zimbabwe, he has expressed his pain in a statement.
In the first T20I against Zimbabwe, Mayank Yadav announced his comeback in style, taking a wicket with the very first ball of the match. He took two wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs. Mayank was also awarded the Player of the Match award for his impressive performance. In his statement, he said, “It was very difficult to stay motivated, and the two-year gap was very challenging. Things weren’t in my favor at that time, as I was only 22 or 23 years old. I had to go through so much at that age. I had to keep myself motivated to make a comeback, and returning to play for my country was the biggest motivation.”
Kuldeep shines for Yorkshire in One Day Cup
India’s star spinner Kuldeep Yadav has made a sensational impact in England. He made his debut for the English club Yorkshire on Friday, wreaking havoc by claiming two wickets in just three deliveries. The One Day Cup is currently underway in English domestic cricket; Kuldeep had recently signed with Yorkshire for five One Day matches and three County matches.
In this match, Kuldeep was the only Yorkshire bowler to complete his full 10-over spell, finishing with figures of 2 for 39. Yorkshire went on to win the match by two wickets. Kuldeep also contributed with the bat, scoring 12 runs off 23 balls.
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka get direct entry in the knockouts of the Asian Games
The men’s teams from India , Bangladesh , Pakistan and Sri Lanka have secured direct qualification to the knockout stage of the 2026 Asian Games, scheduled to be held in September. Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal and Oman will play in the first round, with the top four teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
The draws and groupings for both the men’s and women’s competitions at the Asian Games were announced on Thursday. Ten teams will compete for the title in the men’s category, while eight teams will participate in the women’s category.
The women’s competition will begin directly with the quarterfinals. India will face Japan, Bangladesh will face China, Sri Lanka will face Malaysia and Pakistan will face Thailand. The women’s competition will be played from September 17th to 22nd.
Afghanistan name squad for Ireland ODIs
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match ODI series against Ireland. Experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has been left out of the squad. Nabi, along with Farid Malik and Bilal Sami, who were part of last month’s tour of India, have also been left out of the main squad.
Veteran batsman Rahmat Shah will captain the Afghanistan team on the Ireland tour. This is the first time Rahmat Shah will lead the Afghanistan team. Explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been appointed vice-captain. In addition, the selectors have recalled fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqui, while Yamin Ahmadzai and Saleem Safi have also been included in the 15-member squad.

Alzarri Joseph refused West Indies Test selection for Pakistan series
The West Indies have suffered a major setback ahead of the Test series against Pakistan. Despite being selected, the team’s experienced fast bowler, Alzarri Joseph, will not be part of the series. Head coach Daren Sammy himself revealed this information, stating that while Alzarri had been selected for the squad following his recovery from injury, he declined to play.
Sammy explained that Alzarri Joseph was picked with his return in mind, but the final decision rested with the player himself. “He was selected. He is returning from injury. However, for certain reasons, he did not accept the selection,” Sammy said. “This decision is beyond my jurisdiction. It is a matter for the board and the directors to determine how to handle a situation where a contracted player turns down a selection.”
