Zimbabwe won’t be taken lightly, says Shreyas Iyer

The Indian cricket team will play the first match of the T20 series against Zimbabwe in Harare on July 23rd. Under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, India lost their last two T20 series, playing in England and Ireland. Now, Iyer has made it clear that the Indian cricket team will not take the upcoming series against Zimbabwe lightly.

“We have to adapt to the conditions as quickly as possible. Because that’s what happened to us in Ireland. We were exposed to our true colours. So , as soon as we understand the conditions here, we will play in the right way,” Shreyas Iyer said at the pre-match press conference in Harare on Wednesday. “Some of us are playing for the first time, so the quicker we adapt, the better the results will be,” he said.

Kuldeep Yadav signs contract with Yorkshire County

India’s star left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav on Wednesday signed to play eight games for top English county team Yorkshire in the current season. Yorkshire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the overseas signing of Indian international spinner, Kuldeep Yadav.

Kuldeep Yadav, 31, will be available for five Metro Bank One Day Cup matches, then return to Headingley for three of the final four Rothesay County Championship fixtures in September, Yorkshire CCC announced on the club’s website. Yadav will be included directly in the squad for Friday’s 50-over match against Glamorgan in Neath.

Rahmat Shah named Afghanistan’s Test and ODI captain

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has made a major announcement: Rahmat Shah Zurmati has been appointed captain of the Afghanistan cricket team. Following Hashmatullah Shahidi’s resignation on the evening of July 21, the board named the experienced middle-order batsman as the new Test and ODI captain. The ACB shared this information on X. In its official announcement, the board also stated that wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz would serve as the vice-captain for both formats.

Rahmat Shah has been the backbone of Afghanistan’s batting lineup for years and is considered one of the team’s most reliable players; he had previously been serving as the vice-captain for the Test and ODI teams since May 31, 2021. By appointing him as the full-time captain, the board has demonstrated its confidence in his experience and leadership capabilities.

Taskin shifts focus to Australia series, skips LPL

Taskin Ahmed has withdrawn from the Lanka Premier League (LPL) to prepare for the upcoming Test series against Australia. The Bangladesh pacer, who returned to Dhaka with the team following the Zimbabwe tour, was scheduled to play for the Jaffna Kings in the tournament.

Initially, Taskin had taken leave from the T20 series of the Zimbabwe tour to participate in the LPL. The Bangladesh team is set to depart for the series against Australia in August. This will be the first time since 2003 that the Tigers play a two-match Test series against the Aussies.

England to face Australia in first-ever Mixed Disability Ashes in 2027

Australia and England are set to compete in a Men’s Mixed Disability Ashes series for the first time in 2027. Mixed disability cricket was introduced at the international level in 2025, with England and India participating in the first two international editions of this format. The Ashes series scheduled for next year will mark Australia’s first international event in the new disability cricket format, which sees cricketers with physical, intellectual, or hearing impairments playing together on the same team.

To prepare for this series, a mixed-disability feature match has been included in the schedule for the 2027 National Cricket Inclusion Championships (NCIC). Both this feature match and the NCIC itself will form part of the selection process for the mixed-disability Ashes squad.
