BCCI to review the players’ rehabilitation and recovery process
Several players on the Indian cricket team are currently injured. The team management is concerned about the continued injuries. Captain Shubman Gill has also raised questions about this. Now, seeing the issue escalate, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken action. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia will meet with Cricket Chief VVS Laxman at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Sunday to review the players’ rehabilitation and recovery process.
Jasprit Bumrah (knee swelling), Sai Sudharsan (left toe injury), Harshit Rana (hamstring strain), Nitish Kumar Reddy (hamstring strain), and Washington Sundar (thigh strain) will miss the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to various injuries. Akash Deep (stress fracture) has been out of action for the longest time, having been out since Bengal’s Ranji Trophy semifinal defeat.
Additionally, Hardik Pandya (thigh strain), Varun Chakravarthy (hamstring strain), and Prince Yadav (hamstring strain) are also part of the COA, where the sports science team is under significant pressure. This department has been without a head since Nitin Patel resigned in early 2025. The biggest challenge right now is getting all these players fully fit and back on the field as soon as possible.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi encounters a leopard in safari
Team India’s youngest cricketer, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, went on a jungle safari in Bor. He was accompanied by cricketers Shivam Dubey, Ravi Singh, and Sushant Mishra. The Rajasthan Royals coach was also present. The safari took place inside the gate of the Bor Tiger Reserve in Rahti, where Forest Inspector Rupesh Khedkar was also present.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and his fellow players thoroughly enjoyed the safari. Vaibhav even shared a video of the safari on his social media page. They spent about four hours in the bore. They saw animals like leopards, bears, sambar, chital, peacocks, and more. It turns out they missed seeing a tiger by a very short while.
Shaik Rasheed likely to replace injured Sai Sudharsan
The Indian team is scheduled to play a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, starting August 15th. The Indian team has been playing practice matches for the series since August 7th. Even before the series begins, the Indian team’s difficulties have increased. A star player has been ruled out. Although the BCCI has not officially announced this, reports suggest that the left-handed batsman is still not fully fit.
With Sudharsan almost certain to miss the series, Shaik Rasheed has emerged as one of the leading options to replace him in the squad. He played two matches for India A against Sri Lanka A in Galle last month, scoring a half-century in one innings. With Sudarshan injured and certainly out, Devdutt Padikkal can make an entry in the Indian first XI at number three. The left-handed Indian batter scored a stylish century on the second day of the warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI, which may assure his spot in India’s playing eleven for the opening Test.
Babar Azam did not give an interview to Irfan Pathan!
The 2023 ODI World Cup was hosted by India and Babar Azam led the Pakistan ODI team at the time. Pakistan’s performance in the tournament was extremely disappointing. The team failed to reach the semi-finals. At that time, it was claimed that former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan wanted to interview Babar Azam as a commentator, but Babar refused. Now, Irfan has revealed the story behind this.
Irfan Pathan has now spoken about the incident three years later and broken his silence on JioStar. He said, “The media in our neighboring country, Pakistan, once reported that I had gone to interview Babar Azam, and he refused, saying that Pathan trolls our country, so I would not talk to him. However, this was a blatant lie. Someone had misused Photoshop on my photo.”
