Babar Azam injured in warm-up match, blow for Pakistan
The Pakistan cricket team has suffered a major setback ahead of the Test series against England. Team captain and star batsman Babar Azam has sustained an injury. A three-match Test series between Pakistan and England is scheduled to begin on August 19, but Babar’s injury has raised concerns for the team. Pakistan is currently playing a three-day warm-up match against a Professional County Club Select XI ahead of the series. Babar was injured on the second day of this match, forcing him to leave the field.
On the second day of the warm-up match against the Professional County Club Select XI, Pakistan captain Babar Azam was batting on 5 runs when a fast, half-pitch delivery struck his right hand. The ball bounced unexpectedly, catching Babar off guard; he immediately dropped his bat on the ground upon impact. He was seen grimacing in pain after being hit. The team physio rushed onto the field to examine the injury. Deciding not to take any risks, the team management had Babar retire hurt, and he left the field. This injury to Babar has heightened concerns for Pakistan.

Abhishek Porel sent to 14-day judicial custody
Troubles continue to mount for Delhi Capitals star player Abishek Porel. After previously being arrested on allegations involving sexual relations, he has now suffered a major setback in court; his bail plea has been rejected. The court denied him bail on August 14 and remanded him to custody for 14 days, dealing him a severe blow.
Porel plays domestic cricket for Bengal. A female medical student has accused him of engaging in sexual relations under the pretext of marriage, following which the police arrested him at his residence in Dum Dum, North 24 Parganas district. He was subsequently produced in court on August 11 and remanded to police custody for three days. Prior to this, the Calcutta High Court had ordered the seizure of his electronic devices to prevent the circulation of the complainant’s photographs.
Dale Steyn to become CSK’s head coach: Report
Chennai Super Kings (CSK), one of the most successful IPL teams, currently has a vacant head coach position after Stephen Fleming resigned last month. Fleming has been appointed head coach of the England Test team. Consequently, CSK is now searching for a new head coach. Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has hinted at becoming the head coach.
A fan on social media asked Dale Steyn, “If CSK approached you to become head coach, would you consider the offer?” Steyn replied, “Probably yes.” Steyn’s response has now become widely discussed. He has subtly expressed his desire to become CSK’s head coach. However, several names have emerged in the race for the role, including Brendon McCullum.
Sourav Ganguly breaks silence on death threats
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly received a death threat a few days ago. A letter was delivered via courier to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) office, threatening to kill Ganguly and his wife Dona Ganguly. Now, Sourav has broken his silence for the first time and issued a statement to the media.
Speaking during the inauguration of a store at Acropolis Mall in Kolkata, Ganguly confirmed that the threatening messages had been reported to the authorities. “We have reported it to the police. I am sure the police will sort it out. The number is from here (Kolkata). Hopefully, the police will do the needful. I have security,” he told reporters.
