PSL imposes two-year ban on Blessing Muzarabani

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) imposed a two-year ban on Blessing Muzarabani after he walked away from the tournament to join the Indian Premier League. The Zimbabwe fast bowler will not be able to participate in the league until 2029. Muzarabani was signed by the PSL franchise Islamabad United as a replacement for West Indies bowler Shamar Joseph. However, eventually, he joined the Kolkata Knight Riders while they were looking for a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman.

“The sanction serves as a necessary measure to safeguard the professional environment of the PSL,” a PSL statement said.

“The PSL remains dedicated to ensuring that the league remains a platform where contractual certainty is respected and where the actions of all players and agents reflect the prestige of the tournament. The two-year ban reflects the gravity of the breach.”

Sanju Samson, Amelia Kerr rewarded by ICC

On Tuesday, Sanju Samson was named ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March, while the New Zealand Women’s team captain Amelia Kerr won the same in the women’s category. “Winning the ICC Player of the Month award is an incredible feeling, especially as it comes during what has been the most unforgettable phase of my cricketing journey. Playing a part in India’s triumph at the Men’s T20 World Cup was truly a dream realised, and it took some time for the magnitude of that moment to fully sink in,” Samson said.

For Amelia Kerr, the captaincy of the White Ferns seemed to have brought out the best in her. Kerr won the award for the third time, and this came after an outstanding series against Zimbabwe and South Africa. In the Zimbabwe ODI series, she took 16 wickets in just three matches, including her career-best figures of 7/34.

Hasan Ali joins Vitality Blast

Yorkshire have roped in Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali as one of their overseas players for the Vitality Blast. Hasan replaced Naveen-ul-Haq, who has been ruled out of the tournament with injury. Naveen missed the T20 World Cup too, following a stress fracture. Hasan, who claimed 44 wickets at 14.93 in three spells with Warwickshire in the Blast between 2023 and 2025, is expected to be available for Yorkshire throughout the Blast group stage.

Gavin Hamilton, Yorkshire’s general manager of cricket, said: “Whilst we’re naturally disappointed to not see Naveen join us this year, in Hasan we have an exceptional replacement.” He added, “He arrives with a wealth of experience and a skillset that we believe will be invaluable to the group. We’re delighted to have secured someone of Hasan’s quality at such short notice, and everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming him to Headingley next month.”
