The first Test match between Pakistan and the West Indies (PAK vs WI) is underway at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. On the third day of the match, a West Indies fast bowler claimed what could be described as one of the most devastating five-wicket hauls in Test history. Justin Greaves had not taken a single wicket in his opening six overs, but in his next five overs, he bowled five maidens and managed to take a wicket in every single over. The Pakistani batters once again faced embarrassment in the international arena, as no one had anticipated such a collapse.
Justin Greaves claimed 5 wickets
Pakistan was in a strong position in their first innings, with Shan Masood batting after having scored a century. Then, Justin Greaves clean-bowled Masood on the sixth ball of his seventh over. He claimed the wicket of Aamer Jamal on the second ball of his eighth over and subsequently trapped Ali Usman LBW in the ninth over.
Greaves’ lethal spell continued to wreak havoc. He dismissed Mohammad Rizwan in his 10th over and Mohammad Abbas in his 11th to complete a five-wicket haul. Remarkably, he did not concede a single run across those five overs. In total, Justin bowled 11 overs in the innings, taking 5 wickets for 27 runs.
West Indies hold a 155-run lead
By the close of play on day three, the West Indies held a 155-run lead in the first Test. Batting first, the West Indies had scored 311 runs. In response, the Pakistan team was bowled out for 282. The West Indies held a 29-run lead and ended the day at 126 for 7. On day four, the West Indies will look to extend this lead; however, with only three wickets remaining, they will need a substantial partnership.
