IPL 2026: Mitchell Starc cleared by Cricket Australia, ready to join Delhi Capitals

IPL 2026: Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been cleared to play competitive cricket by Cricket Australia. Following his approval, Starc is set to join the Delhi Capitals for IPL 2026. Starc, who has been sidelined for the IPL so far due to elbow and shoulder issues, could soon join the Delhi Capitals.

Mitchell Starc suffered shoulder and elbow problems during the five Ashes Tests and then the Big Bash League. Starc played all five Ashes Tests and was named Player of the Series. According to cricket.com.au, “Starc is expected to train hard in India now. He is on track to play in Delhi’s match against Rajasthan Royals on May 1, which will be his first match of the current IPL season.”

Starc ready to join Delhi Capitals

The Australian pacer took 14 wickets in 11 matches for the Delhi Capitals, captained by Axar Patel, in the last IPL season. Delhi currently sits fifth in the points table with three wins and three losses from six matches. Starc faced criticism on social media for his exclusion from IPL 2026. He recently addressed this issue on social media.

Starc wrote, “Despite the opinions and views of some in and through the Indian media, I am currently rehabbing and managing my shoulder and elbow injuries, the severity of which I was unaware during the Australian summer. These individuals have made some harsh statements regarding my participation in the IPL and have presented very inaccurate opinions about players, presenting them as truth and claiming they know my body better than I do. I recognize that this injury and timing are problematic for the Delhi team, and I apologize to the fans for this and for not being available for the initial part of this season.”
