IPL 2026 Bulletin: Major Talking Points | May 8, 2026

KKR beat Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets

In the IPL 2026 match played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Friday, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) crushed the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their own backyard by 8 wickets. Defending KKR’s total of 143 required exceptional performances from the Delhi Capitals bowlers on a batting-friendly wicket. And this exceptional performance only came after KKR lost two wickets for 31 runs.

Ajinkya Rahane (13) was unfortunately run out, and Angkrish was dismissed cheaply by captain Axar Patel. But from there, Finn Allen (100 not out, 47 balls, 5 fours, 10 sixes) unleashed one of the most fearsome tsunamis of this season, supported by Cameron Green (33 not out, 27 balls, 2 sixes). The result was that KKR defeated Delhi Capitals in just 14.2 overs.

KL Rahul creats history with his 23-run innings against KKR

KL Rahul has achieved something no one in the IPL has ever achieved. He created history with his 23-run innings against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Rahul became the first batsman in IPL history to score 1,000 or more runs for three different teams. With his 16 against the Kolkata Knight Riders, he reached 1,000 runs in his IPL career while playing for the Delhi Capitals.

Until now, there has been no batsman in the Indian Premier League who has scored more than 1,000 runs for three different teams. KL Rahul has so far scored 1,000 or more runs for Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Punjab Kings. He crossed the 1,000-run mark in his 24th innings for Delhi. KL Rahul has scored 1,007 runs for Delhi Capitals, 1,410 runs for Lucknow Super Giants, and 2,548 runs while playing for Punjab Kings.

BCCI punishes PBKS bowler Arshdeep Singh

Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh is quite active on social media and is frequently seen creating vlogs. Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now taken strict action by imposing a ban on such vlogging. It is reported that, in light of the conduct of seven players, the BCCI issued a new advisory; following this, Arshdeep has been barred from filming videos during the IPL. This matter also appears to be linked, in some way, to Yuzvendra Chahal.

Arshdeep Singh had been consistently sharing video clips on his YouTube channel and other social media accounts. Some of his videos sparked controversy—most notably, the recent incident involving Yuzvendra Chahal and vaping, which generated significant buzz. It was alleged that Chahal was seen smoking an e-cigarette while aboard a flight. Claims also surfaced on social media suggesting that, after the controversy surrounding Chahal erupted, Arshdeep edited that specific segment out of his video. Prior to that incident, a video posted by Arshdeep had featured other players mocking a catch taken by teammate Shashank Singh.
