Gujarat Titans beat CSK by 89 runs
Playing on their home ground in Ahmedabad, in IPL 2026, the Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 89 runs, powered by half-centuries from Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler, followed by a lethal bowling performance from Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Rashid Khan. This marked Gujarat’s ninth victory in 14 league matches; conversely, following this defeat, CSK’s dream of reaching the playoffs was shattered, bringing Ruturaj Gaikwad’s team’s campaign to an end.
In the 66th match of IPL 2026, the Gujarat Titans faced off against the Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In this contest, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, Gujarat posted a total of 229 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs—driven by the half-centuries of captain Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler—setting a target of 230 runs for Chennai to win. In response, the Chennai team managed to score only 140 runs in 13.4 overs.
Sai Sudharsan matches Virender Sehwag’s all-time IPL record
Sai Sudharsan just raised the bar for consistency in the IPL. In the game between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, he not only pushed past Virat Kohli but also matched Virender Sehwag’s iconic record. Sudharsan hammered his fifth half-century in a row this IPL season, reaching fifty in 35 balls against CSK.
This remarkable streak started earlier this month: 57 at home against Punjab Kings, 55 in Jaipur versus Rajasthan Royals, 61 back in Ahmedabad when facing Sunrisers Hyderabad, and an unbeaten 53 at Eden Gardens against Kolkata Knight Riders. With this latest knock, Sudharsan edged past Kohli and matched the IPL record for most consecutive fifties. Only a handful of players have pulled this off—Virender Sehwag back in 2012, Jos Buttler in 2018, and David Warner in 2019. Sehwag was the only Indian to do it until now. Sudharsan’s in elite company.
Raghuvanshi ruled out of IPL 2026 with injury
Kolkata Knight Riders just took a big hit—Angkrish Raghuvanshi is out of the IPL 2026. Sources told India TV digital that Raghuvanshi’s finger injury will keep him on the sidelines for up to three months.
He already missed KKR’s next match against the Delhi Capitals because of ICC’s concussion rules. In the previous game against Mumbai Indians, Raghuvanshi collided with Varun Chakaravarthy and ended up with a concussion.
During that match, Raghuvanshi had dizziness, a headache, and neck pain. KKR had to bring in Tejasvi Dahiya as his substitute. The ICC’s concussion protocol says any player with a concussion has to sit out for at least seven days before they’re cleared to play again.
