Pakistan, batting first after losing the toss, could only manage 133 runs in their first innings. England then scored 453 runs in their first innings to take a massive lead. England had a match-winning lead of 320 runs in the first innings. Pakistan then scored 449 runs in the second innings, setting England a target of 130 runs.
In Pakistan’s second innings, Shan Masood (95) added 125 runs for the third wicket with Azan Owais (59) and 89 runs for the fourth wicket with captain Babar Azam (76). The team suffered its eighth wicket loss at 318, after which Mohammad Abbas (42) shared a 121-run partnership for the ninth wicket with Razaullah (81) to take Pakistan past 400. For England, Gus Atkinson took the maximum three wickets, while Ollie Robinson, Josh Tongue, and Dan Lawrence took two wickets each.
Chasing a modest target of 130, England lost their opening pair of Ben Duckett (0) and Emilio (0) in the very first over. At that point, they had only scored two runs. Captain Joe Root then shared a 128-run partnership for the third wicket with Jordan Cox in 140 balls to secure a comfortable victory.
Joe Root remained unbeaten on 62 off 69 balls, including nine fours, while Jordan Cox made an unbeaten 59 off 76 balls, including eight fours. For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas took two wickets for 27 runs in his eight overs (ENG vs PAK).
