The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the India squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Two players have been included in the squad for the first time. Washington Sundar’s name is not included in the squad.
Sundar suffered an injury during the England tour and is currently out of the team. He is currently working on his injury. Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav are also in the squad. The BCCI has issued a statement stating that Sundar is unavailable for the first Test.

Gurnur Brar, who impressed with his ODI debut, has also been included in the Test team. He made his ODI debut against Afghanistan and then traveled to England. Now, he will also travel to Sri Lanka, but the jersey color will be different. Saransh Jain has also earned his first Test call-up. This all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh has consistently impressed. He replaces Sundar in the squad. Saransh is an off-spinner and left-handed batsman.
Suspense over Bumrah and Sudarshan
While Jasprit Bumrah and Sai Sudarshan are named in the squad, their participation depends on their fitness. If they pass the fitness test, they will remain in the team. The first Test between the two teams will be played in Galle from August 15 to 19. The second match will be played in Colombo from August 23 to 27.
