IND vs ENG: The England cricket team continued its excellent form, defeating the Indian cricket team by 56 runs in the fifth T20I at the Rose Bowl Stadium. Batting first, England scored 257/3. In reply, India could only manage 201/8 despite knocks from Ishan Kishan (56) and Tilak Varma (53). With this, England won the five-match series 4-0.
England suffered an early blow as Phil Salt (6) was dismissed cheaply. Jos Buttler then scored a century (131), and captain Harry Brook made an unbeaten 95 to guide the team to a big total. In reply, Sanju Samson (27) and Shreyas Iyer (28) failed to make a big impact after Abhishek Sharma (3) departed early. Kishan (56) and Tilak (53) struggled in the crucial moments but could not secure victory.
Jos Buttler’s 131: highest run against India
Jos Buttler has now become the batsman with the highest individual score against India in T20Is. He surpassed Evin Lewis’s record of 125* in 2017. Buttler’s 131 has also become the second-highest individual score for England in T20Is. The list is topped by Phil Salt, who scored 141* against South Africa in 2025. This is Butler’s ninth century in T20 cricket and the first on English soil. With this, he also crossed the 14,500-run mark in T20 cricket.
Highest total run scored against India in T20I
In this clash, England scored 257 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. This is the highest score ever recorded by any team against India in T20s. Previously, England held this record as well, having scored 246/7 against India in the semi-final of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the West Indies scored 245/6 against India at Lauderhill in 2016, and South Africa scored 227 for three against the hosts in Indore in 2026.
Axar Patel flopped against England
Axar Patel has moved into fourth place on the list of bowlers who have conceded the most runs in a T20 International spell for India. Topping this list is Prasidh Krishna, who conceded 68 runs without taking a wicket against Australia in Guwahati in 2023. Varun Chakaravarthy holds the second spot, having conceded 64 runs against England at the Wankhede Stadium in 2026. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal conceded 63 runs against South Africa at Centurion in 2018, and Axar has reached those same figures.
