Varun, Harshit out of final two T20Is against England
Team India suffered two major setbacks ahead of the fourth T20I against England. Fast bowler Harshit Rana and spinner Varun Chakaravarthy were ruled out of the remaining two matches of the series. The fourth match is being played on Thursday, July 9th, at the County Ground in Bristol. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided an update ahead of the match, stating that both players suffered hamstring injuries.
Harshit and Varun suffered hamstring injuries in the third T20I of the series at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Tuesday (July 7). Both players are under the supervision of the medical team.
Giving an update, the board wrote, “Harsit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy suffered hamstring injuries in the third T20I played at Trent Bridge. The BCCI medical team has examined them and ruled them out of the fourth and fifth T20Is.”
Sachin, Yuvraj lead tributes as Sourav Ganguly enters ICC Hall of Fame
Tributes poured in for former India captain Sourav Ganguly a day after he was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, with batting great Sachin Tendulkar and former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh congratulating one of India’s most successful captains. Ganguly was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame on his 54th birthday. He became the 12th Indian overall and the 10th Indian male cricketer to receive the honour.

‘Drop Tilak, play Sanju,’ says Krishnamachari Srikkanth
Former Indianb captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth has publicly criticized the team management for appointing Tilak Varma as vice-captain and protecting him against fast bowling. Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy is also under scrutiny due to Team India’s continued defeats against England.
Srikkanth has launched a scathing attack on Tilak Varma’s performance and the team management’s strategy. Srikkanth also criticized Tilak Varma’s appointment as vice-captain so soon and his current form. He said, “He has already been appointed vice-captain, and it looks like he will soon become captain as well. Perhaps Tilak Varma himself refused to go out after seeing his pace and bounce. Tilak Varma looks completely clueless. I would prefer Sanju Samson to play in the team instead of Tilak Varma.”

Rohit Sharma had won the toss in 5 consecutive T20 matches between February 2020 and February 2022, while Iyer has now left Rohit behind by winning the toss in 6 consecutive matches between June 2026 and July 2026. Iyer equaled Virat Kohli (6 tosses) on this list, while also coming close to breaking Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s all-time record (7 tosses). Dhoni set the record for winning the toss in seven consecutive matches between 2010 and 2012.
Dumbleton Cricket Club side score 417 runs in 20 overs
An English club has achieved a feat in T20 cricket that has captured the attention of the entire cricketing world. In a league match in England, Dumbleton Cricket Club scored 417 runs for 2 wickets in 20 overs. This is the highest total by any team in T20 cricket history. Batting first, Dumbleton CC’s batsmen were explosive from the start. Team opener Evan Gage scored an unbeaten 206 off just 55 balls. He hit 13 fours and 23 sixes in this record-breaking innings.
He was ably supported at the other end by Dan Holland, who smashed 122 runs off 37 balls. Tom Kelly provided the team with a quick start, scoring 64 runs off 25 balls. During the innings, Dumbleton’s batsmen combined to hit 47 sixes and put 417 runs on the scoreboard. Dumbleton won the match by 188 runs.
