BAN vs AUS: Bangladesh register first ODI series win over Australia, beat Australia by 5 wickets (DLS)

BAN vs AUS: Bangladesh created history by defeating Australia in an ODI series (BAN vs AUS) for the first time. Previously, Australia had lost the three-match ODI series against Pakistan. Now, Bangladesh has written new history by defeating the Kangaroo team in two consecutive matches. In the second match of the ODI series played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh won by 5 wickets under DLS.

This is Bangladesh’s only third win against Australia. The two teams have been playing ODIs since 1990. Bangladesh won its first ODI against Australia in 2005. After that, the team had to wait 21 years to win its second ODI. In the first match of the ongoing series, Bangladesh defeated Australia by 86 runs under DLS. Now, in the second match, the Bangladesh team won the series and sealed its name.

Rain intervened in the second ODI

Australia won the toss and elected to bat. The team got off to a poor start, losing their first three wickets for zero runs. The team eventually reached 187 for 8 in 42 overs. Rain then intervened, preventing Australia from batting again.

Marnus Labuschagne played the highest innings for the team, scoring 55* off 85 balls with three fours. Xavier Bartlett also scored 52 runs. Four batsmen were dismissed without scoring. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman took the most wickets for Bangladesh, taking three wickets each.

Due to rain, Bangladesh were set a target of 192 runs in 41 overs under DLS. Chasing the target, Bangladesh scored 195 for 5 in 35 overs to win. Soumya Sarkar top-scored for the team, scoring 42 runs off 47 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes.
