IND vs AFG: India crushed Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs in the one-off Test match played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium (IND vs AFG). After being bowled out for 152 runs in the first innings, Afghanistan was forced to follow on. The visiting team fared even worse in the second innings, collapsing for 112 runs.

Manav Suthar, Washington Sundar stole the show

Sediqullah Atal and Abdul Malik gave Afghanistan a steady start in the second innings, adding 42 runs for the first wicket. Abdul was dismissed for 8 runs, while Atal fell to Washington Sundar after scoring 42 off 80 balls. Gurbaz failed to make a significant impact with the bat in the second innings as well, getting out for 24 runs. Rahmat Shah, who had scored a half-century in the first innings, managed only 13 runs in the second. Captain Shahidi scored just 5 runs, while Azmatullah Omarzai returned to the pavilion after scoring 4. Wicketkeeper-batter Afsar Zazai was dismissed for 8 runs, and Kharote could only manage 6. Mohammad Saleem was dismissed for a duck, and Ashraf did not come out to bat due to an injury.

Washington Sundar bowled brilliantly in the second innings, claiming 4 wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav took 3. Mohammed Siraj and Manav Suthar claimed one wicket each. Earlier, India declared their first innings at 564 for 8, powered by centuries from KL Rahul (100 runs) and Shubman Gill (126 runs). Sai Sudharsan (81 runs), Rishabh Pant (81 runs), and Washington Sundar (unbeaten 52) also scored half-centuries. In response, the entire Afghanistan team was bowled out for 152 runs.

Rahmat Shah was the team’s top scorer with 60 runs; however, he did not receive support from the other batters at the opposite end. Based on the first innings, the Indian team secured a massive lead of 412 runs. Making his debut for India, Manav Suthar bowled brilliantly, claiming 6 wickets for 37 runs in the first innings. Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna took 3 wickets.
