How often have you seen a batter get hit-wicket in a match? A few times perhaps. But how many times have you seen a batter get dismissed in the same fashion twice in two games? Probably never! That’s what happened to Sai Sudharsan in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
THE RAREST OF RARE DISMISSALS!

Sudharsan carved a full-toss from Brijesh Sharma in the gap on the off side. The ball went into the fence, but his bat had flown into the stumps to end an excellent knock.
“Where is the fevicol? Where is the glue?” a shocked Ravi Shastri asked on air.
He got out in a similar fashion in Qualifier 1 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). On that occasion, it was off Jacob Duffy’s bowling. He cut a short ball quite well, opening the face of the bat, but, unfortunately for him, the bat flew out of his hands and smashed into the stumps.
No other batter has been dismissed hit-wicket more times than Sai Sudharsan in T20s. His dismissals have all come in the IPL. In fact, Sai Sudharsan is the only batter to be dismissed in this fashion on multiple occasions in the IPL.
Andre Russell and Shoaib Malik are the only other batters to be dismissed in this fashion three times in T20s.
Gill-Sudharsan get the job done
However, against RR, he played a fine hand of 58 off 32 deliveries and put on 167 for the first wicket with his skipper, Shubman Gill, to put Gujarat Titans (GT) in a commanding position in pursuit of 215. Gill, too, did his job, slamming a magnificent century – his fifth in the IPL and second as captain.
GT went on to win by seven wickets and will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2026 final on May 31 (Sunday).
