There’s no stopping Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener smashed a 36-ball century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Jaipur on April 25 (Saturday). In doing so, he has registered the third-fastest century in IPL history.
The teenager already holds the record for the second-fastest ton in the IPL, when he got to the landmark off just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT) last season.
Fastest century in IPL (by balls)
30 Chris Gayle (RCB) vs PWI, Bengaluru, 2013
35 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (RR) vs GT, Jaipur, 2025
36 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (RR) vs SRH, Jaipur, 2026
37 Yusuf Pathan (RR) vs MI, Mumbai, 2010
37 Heinrich Klaasen (SRH) vs KKR, Delhi 2025
Sooryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 103 off 37 after he was trapped leg-before by Sakib Hussain right after he got to his landmark. He smashed 12 sixes during his knock, joint-third-most in an IPL innings.
Only Jos Buttler (7) has more centuries for RR than Sooryavanshi. Sanju Samson, Ajinkya Rahane and Yashasvi Jaiswal also have a couple of tons apiece for the Men in Pink.
Thanks to Sooryavanshi and his second-wicket stand of 112 (62) with Dhruv Jurel (51), RR are on course to getting a massive total on the board.
The Royals are third on the IPL 2026 points table with five wins from seven matches. A win tonight will see them climb to second.
