IPL 2026 Bulletin: Major Talking Points | April 25, 2026

SRH beat beat Rajasthan by 5 wickets

Despite a century from 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Rajasthan Royals lost as Sunrisers Hyderabad won the 36th match of IPL 2026 by 5 wickets. Batting first at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, Rajasthan scored 228/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing a target of 229, Hyderabad achieved the target in 18.3 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Ishan Kishan scored a quickfire 74, and Abhishek Sharma scored 57. Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed 36 and Heinrich Klaasen 29. For Rajasthan, Jofra Archer and Brijesh Sharma took 2 wickets each.

Earlier, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 103 runs off 37 balls for Rajasthan. He reached his second IPL century in 36 balls. Vaibhav also hit 12 sixes and 5 fours. Dhruv Jurel scored 51, and Donovan Ferreira scored 33 off 16. For Hyderabad, Ishan Malinga took two wickets, while Pat Cummins, Nitish Reddy, Shakib Hussain, and Praful Hinge each took one wicket.

Punjab Kings beat Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets

In the IPL 2026 match played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, Punjab Kings made history by defeating the home team, Delhi Capitals, by 6 wickets. Chasing a record target of 265 runs for victory, Punjab’s opening pair — left-hander Priyansh Arya (43 off 17, 2 fours, 5 sixes) and wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh (76 off 26, 9 fours, 5 sixes) — provided the team with a blistering start. When the duo collectively added 126 runs within just the opening overs of the Powerplay, the trajectory of the match became abundantly clear.

While Priyansh narrowly missed out on a half-century, and Cooper Connolly (17) departed cheaply shortly thereafter, captain Shreyas Iyer (71* off 36 balls, 3 fours, 7 sixes) anchored one end; amidst the fall of wickets, he ensured that the explosive momentum established by the openers did not diminish in the slightest. Consequently, even when the fourth wicket fell in the form of Nehal Wadhera (25 off 15, 3 fours, 1 six), there remained absolutely no doubt regarding a Punjab victory. And so, the Kings secured their sixth consecutive win, reaching the target in just 18.5 overs with the loss of 4 wickets. With this triumph, Punjab also set a new record in IPL history for successfully chasing down the highest-ever total. Incidentally, the previous record for the highest successful chase — a target of 262 — was also held by Punjab.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi creates new record with 15-ball fifty

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi — who has emerged not merely as an Indian sensation but as a global “super kid” of cricket — is currently making waves across the cricketing world. On Saturday, Sooryavanshi smashed a half-century in just 15 balls. With this feat, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi etched his name in history within a single season.

His fifty in the match against SRH marked the third instance in the IPL where Vaibhav has reached the milestone in just 15 deliveries. While legendary stalwarts have been unable to score a 15-ball fifty even three times across their entire careers, Vaibhav has managed to do so in just half a season. Vaibhav had already scored 15-ball half-centuries against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru earlier in this very season.
